Christmas: a memorable moment that will stay with you all year long
Christmas celebrations are usually accompanied by unforgettable moments of joy. Every year, we try to make the holidays memorable, and even better than the previous year. This is quite normal since the pleasant moments we spend during the holidays can affect the year to come.
Christmas is a tribute to the birth of Jesus Christ . It reminds us of the importance of this event for men. Christmas is an excellent opportunity to update one's faith. It makes us aware of all the love that God has for us. It is true that Christmas is followed by the end-of-year celebrations, which generally make us think of the end of a period. But it is much better to assimilate Christmas to the beginning of a new cycle. You can try to see it as an update of your faith and a re-update of your relationship with the Lord . Strengthening your faith will help you to easily face the new year that awaits you.
Keeping the Christmas spirit alive even after the holidays
The joy we feel during the Christmas holidays is often very intense. But it is easy to forget. Indeed, our lives will immediately resume their course after the holidays. All the things that have been bothering us all year could return to our daily lives.
As we have seen above, Christmas is supposed to mark a renewal. It is supposed to help us face the new year to come. This is the whole point of keeping the Christmas spirit , even after the holidays. This spirit will help you live in a more serene way until the next celebrations (Easter and Pentecost).
Prayers to be said after Christmas
The Act of Humility of Dom Prosper Guéranger :“But, O Child God! The shepherds of Bethlehem did not only seem pleasing to You by the simplicity of their Faith; they also pleased You by the Humility of their hearts. You love the little ones, O my sovereign King ! It is for this very reason that these happy shepherds have obtained the signal glory of becoming the favorites of all mankind, in the honor of being able to be the first to come and greet Your cradle. Thus, the humility of Mary drew You from Heaven into Her chaste flanks, and the humility of the shepherds leads You to call them first to form Your august Court, with Mary, Joseph and the Holy Angels, in this stable which has become a true Paradise .
Oh! What a wonderful lesson You give me, O my Savior , to me who now has the obligation to follow in their footsteps; indeed, who am going to welcome You into myself. O Jesus, lower then all the heights of my spirit; humble every form of repugnance in my heart. Cast me down at the foot of Your crib, so that I can no longer reveal myself in my pride. O my Jesus , not only do You love the little ones; but You also deign to make Yourself small and unite Yourself to my baseness. O supreme God, You come to me like a weak child! At Your approach, I am confused and am lost in my nothingness; I, who until now had distanced myself from the humility and simplicity of childhood. In Your humility, You seek the stable and the crib in which to be born; come into my heart. Bethlehem has offered You nothing as worthy as this greatness which loves to descend into what is most insignificant, of this Light which delights in illuminating the deepest darkness . So be it.

Prayer for the year that ends and the one that begins
“Lord Jesus, I thank you for this year that is ending and I thank you for the new year that is coming. May it bring us peace, may it fill all those I love with grace, and may it bring me strength and love . In this year that is ending, people have suffered; Heal them! If possible, reduce their pain or sorrow. Do something to ease their pain, send someone to help them, and may this new year bring them good. In this year that is ending, I have not been the person I should have been. Make me a better person, my God: more tender with others, stronger, more patient, more demanding with myself, more truthful in my own words, more obedient , more active in my work, more cheerful too; and may tomorrow be more beautiful than today. I thank you for this year that is ending and I ask for your help for this new year that is coming.”

End of Year Thanksgiving Prayer
“A year is ending, time for evaluations, assessments, laughter, and sometimes tears, doubts about our abilities. Some regrets...and then new projects... Lord, leaving aside our requests, our supplications or our remorse, we offer you today a bouquet of "thanks". Did we follow the path that you showed us? How many times did we stray from it? It doesn't matter. You stayed there and continued to believe in us. Thank you, thank you Lord ! Were we attentive enough to others, or did we take much more time to listen to ourselves? You stayed there and continued to believe in us. Thank you, thank you Lord! Did we work well in the service for which we were chosen? Did we share our talents and gifts without regret? You alone know. But nothing would have been possible without You. So, thank you Lord for the little things that we have set in motion. Thank you for the words of hope and the smiles exchanged. You are still there and you continue to count on us.
