Effective prayer to Saint Anthony for every need

Remember, O glorious Saint Anthony , friend of the Child Jesus and beloved son of Mary Immaculate, that it has never been heard of anyone who had recourse to you, imploring your protection, having been abandoned. Encouraged by the same confidence, I come to you, O faithful consoler of the afflicted, and groaning under the weight of my sins, I prostrate myself at your feet and, a sinner that I am, I dare to appear before you. Do not reject my supplications, you who are so powerful near the Heart of Jesus, but listen favorably and be worthy of access to them. Amen.

    Sacred prayer to Saint Anthony

O Saint Anthony , the sweetest of all saints, your love for God and your charity for his creatures made you worthy, when you were here on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles awaited your word, which you were always ready to speak for those who had problems or anxieties. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me... (mention your request). The answer to my prayer may require a miracle, but you are still the miracle saint ; four prayers to Saint Anthony to recite in case of need. Every June 13, feast of the great Saint Anthony, the Saint, as he is called in Padua. He is the saint par excellence, the most loved and invoked saint in the world, the saint who for centuries has helped his faithful with unimaginable graces.

Those who have visited Padua, his tomb, every day of the year but especially today, his feast day, tell of great and incredible miracles , as witnessed by the flow of pilgrims, young and old, who arrive from all over the world. Among the most moving are certainly the stories told by mothers who bring their children dressed in the habit to thank Saint Anthony for saving their children, or to fulfill the vow of the grace of motherhood, or the large number of diplomas left in thanks on the tomb of the saint by young people who received his help to crown the dream of a life of studies, or the thousands of photos left on the tomb with a prayer for healings , family problems or marriages in difficulty.

He is the saint par excellence of the family, the saint of the poor, the saint of the bread that is no longer missing on the table, the saint who saves marriages, who drives out the devil, the saint who helps in the decisions of life. And today we too turn to him with great faith, certain that his powerful intercession with God will not leave our eyes filled with tears of pain, but will fill them with tears of joy. St. Anthony of Padua's Day, June 13, as mentioned above, is also the best time to intone a supplication to St. Anthony.

    Invocation to Saint Anthony

Remember, dear Saint Anthony, that you have always helped and consoled all those who have had recourse to you in their needs.

Moved by great confidence and by the certainty that I do not pray in vain, I too have recourse to you, who are so rich in merit before the Lord. Do not refuse my prayer, but let it reach, through your intercession, the throne of God.

Come to my aid in my present distress and necessity, and obtain for me the grace that I ardently implore, if it is for the good of my soul...

Bless my work and my family : keep from them diseases and dangers of body and soul. Grant that in the hour of pain and trial, I may remain strong in the faith and love of God. Amen.

Prayer of the pilgrims at the tomb of the saint

O dear Saint Anthony , here I am near your blessed tomb.

I have come to pray to you out of need and trusting in your compassionate goodness which can console everyone. Make yourself my intercessor with God; you speak in my name to the Father of mercies, and obtain for me the grace which I particularly need...

I know that my faith is weak; but you, who possessed this virtue in a marvelous way and who awakened it by preaching to the crowds, revive it in me and make it stronger and purer; you who led an evangelical life, help me to make mine more Christian, in order to be a son worthy of the Father who is in heaven.

    novena-to-saint-anthony-of-padua

O Saint Anthony, come to the aid of my weakness, keeping away illnesses and dangers from body and soul; help me to always put my trust in God, especially in times of trial and pain. Bless my work, my family, your faithful scattered throughout the world and spiritually present here: obtain for all kindness of heart towards the poor and the suffering.

O my protector, respond to the trust that I have always placed in your intercession with God.

Family prayer for the intercession of Saint Anthony.

O God, good and merciful Father, who chose Saint Anthony as a witness to the Gospel and a messenger of peace among your people, hear the prayer that we address to you through his intercession.

Sanctify every family , help it to grow in faith; preserve in it unity, peace and serenity. Bless our children, protect the young. Help those who are tested by illness, suffering and loneliness.

Support us in our daily work, by giving us your love.

    Amen

    Prayer of the newlyweds

Dear Saint Anthony, bless and protect my family; keep it united in love, assist it in its temporal needs and keep all evil away from it.

Bless me and my spouse: make us never lack work and all that is necessary to be able to live honestly and to be able to educate the children that the Lord has given us. Bless our children : keep them healthy and ready to do good, help them in their studies and do not allow them to lose their faith and purity of life in the midst of so many occasions of evil.

Grant that we may understand our children and guide them by word and example so that they may always aspire to the most beautiful ideals and be able to fulfill their human and Christian vocation in life.

    Amen

Prayer to obtain a special grace.

    • Request 1

Admirable Saint Anthony , glorious for the fame of miracles and for the predilection of Jesus, who came in the likeness of a child to rest in your arms, obtain for me from your goodness the graces that I ardently desire in my heart. You, who are so pitiful towards miserable sinners, do not pay attention to my demerits, but to the glory of God, which will be once more exalted by you, and to my eternal salvation, not separated from the request that I now earnestly solicit.

    image-of-saint-anthony

From my gratitude, may my charity towards the needy be promised to you, with which, by the grace of Jesus the Redeemer, and by your intercession, it will be given to me to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

    Amen.

Glorious Wonderworker, father of the poor, you who have prodigiously discovered the heart of a miser dipped in gold, for the great gift obtained of having the heart always turned towards misery and the unfortunate, you who have offered to the Lord my supplications and by your intercession they have been heard, graciously as a token of my gratitude the offering that I place at your feet in relief of misfortune.

Help those who suffer, as you do for me; come to the aid of all to help us in our temporal needs, but especially in our spiritual needs, now and at the hour of our death.

    Recite O blessed tongue.

O glorious tongue! O prodigious tongue! The good Lord has willed to keep you miraculously intact as a reward for your merits on this earth. Take advantage of these merits for my benefit! Speak, glorious Saint Anthony , to the Lord for me! The good Lord has kept your tongue intact so that you can speak with a voice that would awaken in me confidence in you. And I have such confidence.

I expect everything from you. That is why I turn to you, so that you can obtain this grace for me. Speak to God for me; if this grace is for the good of my soul, the good Lord will certainly not refuse it to you and I will praise your name by helping your orphans. I will thank you especially by doing everything possible to come to Heaven to sing with your tongue eternal praises to our good God. So be it.

    image-saint-anthony-of-padua

O blessed tongue, which has so blessed the Lord and caused him to be blessed by many, it is now clear how much grace you have found with God.

Pray for us, glorious Saint Anthony .

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Almighty God, You alone perform wonders and miracles; we implore You, just as You kept the language of Saint Anthony, Your confessor, incorrect after his death, that we may always bless and praise You by his merits and example. Through Christ our Lord.

    Amen.

The Life of Saint Anthony of Padua

The life and Christian experience of Saint Anthony of Padua takes place in an era of great historical changes....

Born in Lisbon in 1195, he was the eldest son of a noble family. His father Martino Alfonso de Buglioni was a knight of the king who boasted of descending even from Godfrey of Bouillon, legendary commander of the First Crusade. Antonio was baptized with the name Fernando, and it is interesting to note that once he took his vows and changed his name, he chose one that retained the same etymological meaning as his first name. In fact, Fernando means "bold, courageous in peace", while Antonio means "brave, invaluable who fights for peace".

Not that Fernando was a man of war, quite the contrary. He was probably initiated into the profession of arms, like all the young men of his social class, and like them, he could enjoy the entertainments in vogue at the time. But, as a child, he showed a different disposition, more inclined to contemplation and prayer , so much so that, from the age of fifteen, he wanted to join the Canons Regular of the Holy Cross , the members of the Augustinian order who lived in the Abbey of Saint Vincent in Lisbon.

The path of Saint Anthony of Padua.

Fernando did not remain an Augustinian for long. He lived in the monastery for eight years, devoting himself mainly to study in the great library and undertaking theological studies. Above all, he did not want to get involved in the internal dissensions of the order, caused by the controversial conduct of the prior. We must consider that the Europe in which Fernando lived was afflicted with many problems of political and religious origin.

Profound social and cultural changes, the birth of the communes, the development of trade, the birth of the bourgeoisie transformed the world order. The Church itself underwent profound changes and was shaken by a profound renewal that would lead to the construction of Gothic cathedrals, the extension of the crusades, heresies, ever greater political and secular interference on the part of the popes, on the one hand, and to the birth of new figures of the clergy linked to a more contemplative and apostolic dimension, from the Augustinians to the Dominicans and the Franciscans, on the other hand.

    saint-antoine-image

In 1219, Fernando had the opportunity to learn the story of five Franciscans, three priests and two lay brothers, sent by Francis of Assisi as missionaries to Morocco, to convert the Muslims to Christianity. They also passed through Coimbra, where Fernando was staying, and had a great influence on him.

In particular, when their decapitated bodies were brought back to Coimbra, the young priest decided to leave the Augustinian order and enter the Franciscan order, in September 1220. It was then that he changed his baptismal name from Fernando to Antonio, the name of the monk to whom the hermitage of Olivais in Coimbra, home of the Portuguese Franciscans, was dedicated. He also joined the Franciscans of the hermitage, asking to be allowed to leave as a missionary to Africa.

Ill health, further challenged by a tropical fever, forced Antonio to return early. But while sailing to Spain, his ship was caught in a storm and wrecked on the coast of eastern Sicily. It was there that Anthony and Filippino of Castile, the friar who was traveling with him, learned that Francis had summoned all his brothers on the occasion of Pentecost for a General Chapter to be held in the valley around the Portiuncula.

Anthony and Philippinus set off on foot to travel back up Italy to take part in this exceptional event, which brought together more than three thousand brothers and which will be remembered as the Chapter of Mats, because of the mat huts built for the occasion.

Prayer to Saint Anthony of Padua

Many prayers have been written to address Saint Anthony . After all, devotion to the Saint began even before his early canonization. Many people have turned to him over the centuries, seeking help and advice, comfort, as if he were an older brother who could intercede with God the Father.

Consider the famous Tredicina to St. Anthony, one of the most famous devotions that is recited for thirteen days in preparation for his feast day on June 13. This form of devotion stems from the belief that St. Anthony grants his followers thirteen graces a day, as well as, more generally, his intercession with Jesus.
